For my money there’s no doubt about the best. Some are good, some are bad, and some are both at once. More big-budget Hamlets and Macbeths have been made than you can shake a stick at. It’s a different story with the major plays. But they preserved some fine performances, and when it comes to rarely acted plays like Troilus and Cressida, the BBC films are the only productions you’re ever likely to see.
